Line 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nProtein aggregation is associated with the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative
\ndisorders. There is an urgent need for diagnostic tools and modifying therapies for these
\nincurable diseases. This project intends to exploit our protein aggregation background
\nto provide early diagnostic methods and therapeutic solutions for two different
\ndisorders: Parkinson’s disease and the Tauopathies.

\nResearch Line 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nDespite their association with disease, the stable, hierarchical, and tuneable assembly
\nof amyloids make them exceptional building blocks in nanotechnology, endorsing
\nmaterials with properties that cannot be attained with any other organic or inorganic
\ncomponent. In our lab, we use protein design to develop self-assembled nanomaterials
\nwith novel functional applications, ranging from bio-catalysis to immunotherapy.

\nApplicant Profile<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nCandidates must hold a Master\u2019s degree in a related discipline and should enrol in a
\nPh.D. program at the UAB in 2020\/21. They should be highly motivated and able to work
\nindependently, with solid previous experience in protein biochemistry\/protein
\nbiophysics and molecular biology.<\/p>\n
